Sam Miranda 'Girls Block' 2010

THIS VINTAGE HAS SOLD OUT!

The Wine
The wine exhibits intensley ripe blackcurrant, typical of good Cabernet with an almost menthol, herbaceous finish from the delicate Petit Verdot. The balance of tannin and acid on this wine suggests it will reward patient cellaring meaning that the girls will get to try it in about 10 years or so.

Winemaking
After harvesting, the fruit was fermented in 2 ton open fermentors. The wine was hand plunged, with my daughters taking a keen interest in the fermenting must, and much to my wifes dismay helped with the plunging of the cap. The hands on the label reflect the prints left on the walls, barrels and the floor of the winery. It is only fitting that this flagship wine be named the GIRLS BLOCK. The grapes were grown and wine aged for 15 months in 100% new French oak and finally bottled on the estate.

Viticulture
As the name implies fruit for this wine is sourced from the Girls Block! Located opposite our cellar door in Oxley. At an altitude of approx 150m. This vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
